Skylotec The Milan 2.0 Hub is one of the world's most popular automatically controlled descent devices that allows simultaneous and rapid evacuation of two people from a structure, be it a wind turbine, tower crane, telecommunications mast, etc., using a centrifugally controlled reinforced brake that maintains a constant speed throughout the descent.
This "Hub" version (with a wheel) also allows the casualty to be lifted a short distance (for example if the rescuer needs to free the casualty from the structure, i.e. if they have fallen on a rope/rope), the casualty can then be safely lowered to the ground.
The rope has connectors on both ends that allow it to be used in a yo-yo fashion, so once the first evacuees are on the ground, the next evacuees can connect and escape without having to recharge the device/stretch the rope. (If the length of the rope is the same as the height of the structure. If not, a temporary attachment point can be tied into the rope when the first evacuees have safely landed).
By using Super Static 9mm rope, the Milan 2.0 rescue kit is smaller and lighter, compared to rescue devices that use 10.5mm diameter ropes. The case is made of milled aircraft aluminum, which makes it very robust.
Skylotec The Milan 2.0 has an improved design over the original and now has "ox horns" rather than a "pig tail" and an integrated rope clamp in the body rather than a protruding cam stop.
