The blades of these Japanese thinning shears (Mekiri Basami) are uniquely forged from the finest IZUMO YASUGI steel and have a very high Rockwell hardness of 59 to 60. The blades therefore remain sharp for a long time and consistently provide a clean and precise cut in the wood without much effort. In addition, Okatsune combines hardness with special flexibility so that the cutting wheel always fits the counterblade.

The wider, single-edged blades are stiffer than the pointed version and provide a fixed point. Thanks to the unique shape of the hollow ground blade, the sap drains from the blade and the blade does not split. The V-shaped spring ensures that the cutting load is evenly distributed along the length of the spring, allowing for gentle closing. Okatsune 306 is not suitable for cutting hard (woody) stems. For this you can better use Okatsune 307.
