The blades of this Japanese scissors (Sentei Basami) are uniquely forged from the highest quality IZUMO YASUGI steel and have a very high Rockwell hardness of 60.0 to 61.0. The blades thus remain sharp for a long time and consistently provide a clean and precise cut in the wood without much effort. In addition, the Okatsune combines hardness with special flexibility so that the cutting blade is always in line with the counterblade even after intensive use

The blade is ground at two angles, so it cuts through wood smoothly and does not damage the plant unnecessarily. Thanks to the unique shape of the hollow ground blade, the sap drains from the blade and the blade does not split. The V-shaped spring ensures that the cutting load is distributed evenly along the length of the spring, ensuring a smooth closing.

The blades are very easy to sharpen with the Okatsune (Okatsune 412) sharpener. The scissors have a locking system that can be operated with one hand.
