Work instructions

Lifting people
When used for lifting people, the Smart Spider Power Ascender must be used with personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with the regulations for working at heights and above free depth.

Basic requirements:

  1. Only certified and inspected equipment is allowed.
  2. Only trained and qualified personnel may use the equipment.
  3. The workplace must be supervised.
  4. The use of a fall arrest system is mandatory when lifting persons.

The rope system must include a main rope and an auxiliary rope for fall protection, both certified to EN1891A. Both ropes must have their own independent anchorage points with a minimum load capacity of 12 kN, which must be assessed by a qualified person. In the event of a failure, the load is transferred to an auxiliary rope which, together with the safety device according to EN12841A, forms a fall prevention system.

Personal security requirements:

  1. Use of a full body five point harness complying with EN831:2008 and EN361.
  2. Do not use lifting equipment when tired, ill or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication.

Before use, ensure:

  1. Control of all parts of the system.
  2. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  3. Proper clothing without loose elements.

When using, pay attention to:

  1. Not holding the rope over the lifting device due to the risk of hand injuries.
  2. Keeping hands and feet off rotating parts.
